FAST & FURIOUS PRESENTS: HOBBS & SHAW REVIEW
I must confess that I had never seen a fast and furious movie in the cinema.
What happens if you join Dwayne Johnson (Rampage) and Jason Statham (The Meg) in one movie and add Iris Elba as a villain? The answer is: a crazy combination of action and comedy with cars and incredibly great fighting scenes. In fact I did want to see a movie with the two of them as protagonists because I found the relationship of both characters interesting and fun and because I wanted to see them fight seriously.
Before you begin: it is more than obvious that the saga of fast and furious is one of the most overexploited franchises in the world. How is it possible that they have gone from street races to literally superheroes? Well, everything is a product of marketing.
This film is a spin off of fast and furious with Luke Hobbs and Ian Shaw as protagonists. In this story a new villain appears: Brixton Lore played by Idris Elba who seeks to steal a deadly virus to make humanity evolve, but the virus is stolen by Hattie Shaw (Ian's sister) played by Vanessa Kirby, who implants the virus to prevent a spread. Meanwhile The Rock meets Deadpool who works for the CIA, Ryan Reynolds tells him about Brixton's plan to spread the deadly virus and in London another agent searches for Shaw to find his sister. From this point on, a series of unfortunate events are presented that will force the protagonists to put aside their differences and unite to defeat this new super human ... ah! And Eiza Gonzalez appears ... I love her.
I am aware that fast and furious has lost the touch of originality of the first two films, but while the story is not the big news, what makes this movie good are the action scenes. There are several sequences of very good melee chases and fights, the best is the final fight where Hobbs and Shaw face Lore in a fight in the rain very intense, it really looked like the royal rumble. Vanessa Kirby's character was very cool, she is a strong and independent woman, but she does not fall into the current absurd feminism, her character is the trigger of the story and I sincerely liked her participation.
In summary Hobbs and Shaw is a very good fast and furious movie that is not fast and furious, in fact there is no reference to other characters in the saga but ... it's fine because that's how the plot feels so forced, chemistry of the characters is very good and does not feel forced to create a good action story to hang out and sincerely if I liked it, apart from that I went to see it with my friends, it was a very cool movie.
