Travelling can be defined by many ways. Some people love
to travel for a vacation, spending days
with professional treatment by hotel or
resort staffs and some love a journey.
Wandering around in your two wheeler
itself is a thrill but having a pet dog
with you is more thrilling than the whole
journey. Indian traveller Shiv Shankar aka
@thebanjaaraboy is travelling allover
India with his German Shepherd name
Ragnar. Its been more than two years he
is travelling on his two wheeler. At first
on his scooty then on a motorcycle. He
has completed 47,000 Kms on Scooty,
23,000Kms on Bike and 1,000 Kms by
walk with his dog.
• The story about his journey
Shiv Shankar shared his journey saying,' I am an ordinary boy who lives with his parents in
Ranchi, Jharkhand. As society have set
a boundary for us I used to walk along
with it. A career with handsome salary,
an obedient boy to his parents, started a
house of my own though I don't have to
as my parents already made one for me.
I felt it was giving me a lot of stress. So I
ran away one day in my shorts and tshirt.
didn't pack anything, no clothes no shoes,
no camera, not even food and water. Only I
had my scooty and a mobile.

He started his journey to South first. His
family was upset at first but Covid-19
pandemic and first lockdown changed
everyone's view towards life.

On returning his home Shankar had
to travel around 3000 Kms to cover
a 1500Kms journey.
"As soon as
lockdown declared my family told me
to come home. I was at South India
that time. I headed towards my home
and faced a lot of difficulties. I had
been kicked out from the hotel I was
staying, my scooty had been locked by
police, I had money but it worth nothing
as all the stores were closed even if I
asked people nearby they said, "bhagoo
corona". I saw migrant workers were
returning walking. Atleast somehow I
reached.
But when someone realised what travel
is, they can't seat back at home. To
them travel is more a self-discovery
than to click selfies.
During the lockdown Shankar brought
home Ragnar, his German Shepherd
dog. To him, he got a companion for
his long nomadic journeys. Ragnar was
trained to be wild. He was never be on
leashes.
• Shiv Shankar's thought and advice to
people
Shankar started his journey again
and this time with Ragnar and better
equipments. For their living he started
logging on YouTube and Instagram.
People also started supporting him.

At the end, Shankar asked young
generation to go for good.
" | have realised we are developing a wrong
idea. Now-a-days trend is 'Kacha
Badam' but this is not we should care
about. As a 'Rahi' when I become tired I
need to rest. But instead of a tree I find
concrete hotels. We need to care about
the environment more. As long as you
travel you will understand what home is,
its all the nature. India itself is a world
If you want to know yourself you have
to travel the entire India.
