The sixth part of the in-depth series of Scotland starts with a 3 hour drive up the coast to Keiss Castle which we can't get to except with the drone. I dare use only the DJI fpv because of strong winds. The older castle is rather new, dating from the 16th century and hugging the cliff - one of my favorites.
Girnigoe Sinclair Castle sits on the cliffs as well - the recently preserved and opened castle (some say it is not one but two castles: Girnigoe & Sinclair) is well worth a visit. Very windy still.
We head back south to Hill o' Many Stanes, one of the funniest Historic Scotland sights: a prehistoric place of 200 stones in 22 rows dating 4000 years back - they say there had been around 600 stones when finished.
Well worth a stop is Cairn Liath, the remains of a Broch, around 2000 years old, sitting between the road and the beach.
Dornoch Cathedral was founded 1150 - and closed that day.
Clava Cairns are burial chambers between 3.500 and 4.000 years old.
Finally Culloden Viaduct, a railway bridge a few miles from the famous battlefield.

Der sechste Teil meiner ausführlichen Videos der Schottlandreise: Nach drei Stunden Fahrt die Ostküste hoch erreichen wir die Keiss Castles, die nur per Drohne erreichbar waren. Hier traue ich mich nur mit der DJI fpv, weil es sehr windig ist. Selbst die alte Burg ist recht neu: Sie stammt aus dem 16. Jahrhundert und steht herrlich auf den Klippen.
Castle Girnigoe Sinclair ist etwas weiter südlich ähnlich gelegen. Manche sagen, es würde sich um zwei Burgen unmittelbar nebeneinander handeln.
Weiter geht es nach Süden zum Hill o' Many Stanes, einem der witzigsten Sights von Historic Scotland: 22 Reihen Steine, etwa 200 von ursprünglich 600 sind vorhanden. Es wurde vor ca. 4000 errichtet.
Ein Halt beim Bruch von Cairn Liath lohnt sich ebenfalls: zwischen Straße und Strand die niedrigen Reste einer Fliehburg aus dem ersten Jahrhundert.
Dornoch Cathedral wurde 1150 gegründet - und war geschlossen.
Clara Cairns sind etwa 3.500 bis 4.000 Jahre alte Grabstätten.
Schließlich das Culloden Viaduct, eine Eisenbahnbrücke wenige Kilometer von dem berühmten Schlachtfeld.
