India Bans Real Money Gaming
Indian Government has passed a bill in the parliament to ban real money gaming. In its statement in the parliament, the government stated that the move will help prevent people from addiction and financial ruin. Which means some of the biggest platforms like Dream11, MPL, Games24x7, WinZO, GamesKraft, Zupee, My11Circle, and dozens more - are now facing an existential crisis.

ChatGPT Go launched - Jio Moment for AI in India?
OpenAI just announced a new plan for the Indian users, ChatGPT GO at INR 399/month. For that, you get faster responses, image generation, and way more usage compared to the free version. This is the first time OpenAI has launched a country specific subscription plan anywhere in the world. India is already ChatGPT’s largest market in the world. 13.5% of ChatGPT’s user base is in India, more than in the US, which is at 8.9%.

Quick Updates
Pune-based Astrophel Aerospace has signed an MoU with IN-SPACe to work on developing reusable rockets. Through this deal, Astrophel will get access to ISRO’s testing facilities and technical reviews, especially for their semi-cryogenic engine parts.
A team at IIT Hyderabad’s TiHAN centre has built a driverless car that’s been running safely on campus for over a year, already carrying more than 10,000 passengers. This AI-powered tech is designed for Indian conditions and can work in places like airports, warehouses, or large campuses. Right now, a driver sits inside as a safety backup, but the goal is to build fully autonomous driving in the future.
Neeraj Tyagi, cofounder of We Founder Circle, Avinya Ventures, and Invstt, has passed away at the age of 50. Over the last decade, he became a popular name in India’s early-stage ecosystem, as he helped build one of the country’s most active angel networks, and he has personally backed over 60 startups like BluSmart, Zypp Electric, and Oben Electric. Beyond investing, he even mentored founders, connected them with global capital, and pushed for startup investing to become more accessible.

Funding
Alright, now let's move into the funding news segment for today’s video. This week, Indian startups raised a total of 276 million dollars, which is slightly lower than last week’s 278 million dollars. Now, let’s look at some of the companies that have raised funds this week. The first one I want to talk about is Mumbai-based Weaver Services, which is like a new-age home finance platform that’s making home loans faster and more accessible - especially for self-employed folks living in smaller towns. And they’ve raised 170 million dollars - which is more than half of the total funds raised this week. After that, we have Ahmedabad-based Amnex, which is a tech company from India that's building smart IoT systems to solve real-world problems across areas like farming, city traffic, public transport, and resource management. And they’ve raised 460 crore rupees (52.9 million dollars). Following that, we have a Surat-based solar energy startup called Goldi Solar. And they are building solar panels in India. In fact, they are one of the largest manufacturers in India, producing about 14.7 GW of panels per year. And that’s probably why they managed to raise 137.5 crore rupees ($15.8 million) from Zerodha’s Nithin Kamath. Next, we have Bengaluru-based Beyond Appliances, a startup that’s building innovative, smart kitchen tools specifically designed for Indian homes. And they’ve raised 4 million dollars in their series A round. Finally, we have Bengaluru-based Edgefax, which is making it easier to build smart gadgets and machines. Normally, if you want to create something like a drone, a robot, or even a smart traffic signal, you need to juggle a lot of parts - processors, sensors, batteries, Wi-Fi modules - plus tons of coding. Edgehax combines all of this into a single, ready-to-use board. And it gets better. Their tech can even run AI directly on the device, so things like drones, cars, or robots can “think” and react instantly, without always needing the internet. And they’ve raised 1.39 crore rupees (172,000 dollars) in their seed round.
