Stolen Vehicle – Arrest: C18-166426

On August 2, 2018, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a North District Community Support unit was in the area of McGregor Street and Boyd Avenue when a stolen vehicle was observed.

AIR1 was assigned and began to track the stolen vehicle. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle at McGregor Street and Dufferin Avenue; however the vehicle fled at a high rate of speed.

Ground officers backed off and increased their distance while AIR1 followed the stolen vehicle as it continued to drive at a high rate of speed.

The stolen vehicle crashed through a guardrail at Hallet Street and Rover Avenue and came to a stop on an embankment. A male suspect fled from the vehicle and was tracked as he attempted to hide in bush/tree cover.

The male was taken into custody a short time later.

The stolen vehicle is believed to have been taken from a residence in West St. Paul, Manitoba while parked overnight on July 31, 2018.

A 23-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice

He was detained in custody.
