When you are falling “head over heels” for someone that you barely know, when you find yourself fantasizing about someone, with your mind constantly preoccupied on that person that you just met, this is not love, it is limerence.

Limerence is a sign that you experienced childhood neglect - this can be physical, emotional or both.

Limerence is an attachment wound that you hold, you constantly felt “almost loved” and because of this, your nervous system is mirroring the childhood neglect you had as a child.

Limerence is not about love, but about hope - your childhood wound of holding onto hope that you will finally be loved. Limerence holds onto hope, not reality. Limerence festers on fantasy, potential and an illusion - not reality.

Underneath limerence is a core wound and belief that “I am not good enough” and there is a mountain of shame underpinning it.

Working on your childhood trauma of not being loved in the way you needed and wanted is the doorway to healing this wound.
