On this edition of the Urban Debate with Tanvi Shukla, we talk about an issue that concerns each and viewer of the Urban Debate. The middle class bears the burden of the tax challenges again. No new, exciting job opportunities have been created through this budget and to add to that there is no tax relief for the middle salaried class common man. If anything the gap seems to have increased and the burden has entirely fallen as the fuel prices too have been increased. The Government seems to have let down the middle-class taxpayers yet again.

Join us as Tanvi Shukla asks BJPs Anand Gurumurthy that when the crude prices are going up internationally the Government can't help but hike prices. However, even when it's going down the Government can't help it.
How is that fair?
She also asks former Commerce Secretary Ajay Dua that it has become an easy habit for the state and Centre to raise taxes on fuel. Is that sound economics?
Congress' Anand Madhab too questions that government saying, on hand, they waive-off taxes for tycoons and big corporates, on the other hand, they increase tax and give no relief to the middle-class; they are on the verge of hunger, unemployment, and suicide.
Senior Journalist R Srinivasan also says that the Middle-class has always been milked and will continue to be milked to fund the political program of the government of the day. He adds that they haven't received any relief not just in Budget2021, but since 2014.
