This video tells the story of Belle Gunness, a woman dubbed "Hell's Belle" and one of America's most prolific female serial killers. The narrative begins in La Porte, Indiana, on April 28, 1908, with the burning of the Gunness farmhouse. Investigators recovered four bodies from the cellar: three children and one adult female who was headless. The initial assumption was that Belle Gunness and her three children died in a tragic fire.

However, the subsequent discovery of dismembered human remains beneath the hog pen transformed the case into a horrifying criminal investigation. Belle Gunness, born Brynhild Paulsdatter Størseth in Norway in 1859, was a strategist who lured lonely Norwegian immigrant bachelors to her farm through newspaper advertisements with the promise of marriage and shared fortune. Victims such as John Moe and Ole Budsberg were murdered for their assets, with their bodies dismembered and buried, many in the hog pen to be consumed by pigs.

The fire was deemed arson, and her former handyman, Ray Lamphere, was convicted of setting it, though acquitted of murder. The adult body found in the fire was smaller than Belle's, fueling the suspicion that she staged her death and escaped. The true number of victims remains unknown, but is possibly 40 or more. Belle Gunness was never found, and her story remains a haunting mystery.
