Throwing a "monkey fist" with a heaving line for the first time. In this video you'll see our female deck cadet throwing a monkey fist with the heaving line attached on it. This line with monkey fist is thrown to the port before going alongside the pier. This serves as a heaving line to be attached in the ship's line or the mooring line and that is picked up and pulled by the line men ashore to be secured on the bollards. A bollard is that thing you see in every side of the pier that is use to put the ship's mooring line to keep a ships secured alongside the pier.
