KNUCKLE BASH

Toaplan's first foray into the Beat-Em Up genre is definitely a strange one. You play as a one of 3 wrestlers who have defected from the evil Mad Bull Group because of the way they are corrupting wrestling and with the help of some other characters that join you along the way, you're going to TAKE EM DOWN!!!!

Originally this game was meant to be a fighting game but during development it became a beat-em up. You can still see the fighting games' DNA in here though as each stage is very small and only has a handful of characters to beat up. And then there's the bonus round where it pits the two of you against each other in a test of might!!

While the game is certainly strange, and in some cases a little risqué with it's character design, the game is a lot of fun, it's a little different to what was doing the rounds at the time and definitely stood out as a result. The soundtrack is decent, the game plays really well and the overall presentation is excellent, one you should definitely try out.


KNUCKLE BASH 2

Knuckle Bash 2 is a curious game as apart from the title screen, there doesn't appear to be very much different. The characters and stages appear in a different order (although that could be because chose the purple route instead of the red one) and some of the music is different, otherwise it feels like very much the same game.
