STORYLINE:
The Baghdad Operations Command, the highest security body in the Iraqi capital, has implemented tight security measures on Tuesday, prior to the expected parliament session on Wednesday.
"The aim is to practice leadership and control," said, Maj. Gen. Tahsin al-Khafaji, spokesman for the Joint Operations Command.
In July, supporters of the influential Shia cleric Muqtada al Sadr broke into the parliament to deter al-Sadr's rivals from forming a government and have staged a sit-in outside the building for over four weeks.
Iraq's top court ruled earlier in September that it does not have the legal right to dissolve parliament, amid the country's unprecedented monthslong political crisis.
Al-Sadr's bloc won most votes in parliamentary elections last October but he has been unable to form a majority government.
