After a few months of absence here, I wanted to begin this new year 2022 with something spiritual and something special, what better way to do it than spiritual music. This year has been a roller coaster for most of us. With ups and downs, trauma as well as joy, with life teaching us some valuable lessons, I am motivated all the more to do music that touches my soul and leads me more inward.
In the past few months, my mother introduced me to some very inspiring talks by the monks of Sri Ramakrishna Mission and she also keeps sharing music by some of the monks there, that touches her. This beautiful Ashtakam sung in the form of a bhajan by the absolutely soulful Swami Sri Sarvagananda ji of Sri Ramakrishna Mission was something that instantly tugged at my heartstrings and when my mom asked me if i would sing this, I thought why not start this year with this bliss! I don't think my rendering can even come close to the spiritual singing by Swami ji, but here is a heartfelt piece that I immensely enjoyed creating.
Wishing everyone here a Very Healthy, Peaceful and Happy New year 2021! May we all get a little closer to The Divinity Within.

The verses in this Ashtakam describe Lord Krishna's divine beauty and attributes and it closes with singing Gory to Sri Krishna, the Blemish-less, Supreme Yogi.
Glorifying the beauty of the Lord's hands as He holds the conch, the blue color of His body, the yellow robes that He wears, the sandalwood Tilak on His forehead, and His lotus-like form,
It describes His qualities of forgiveness and compassion, the way He enthralls with the flute,
as the conqueror of the snake Kaliya, The Lord of the Universe, with the Devas waiting to serve him.
It also describes how He protects his devotees, how He upholds everlasting friendship, lives in the Hearts of Gopikas, and how He uplifts one from darkness to the light, befriends the poor and downtrodden, and leads us all on the path of dharma.
He lives the wisdom of the Vedas and He is Himself the Vedas personified; and He is an ocean of compassion and Kindness.
