For a video on how to get the shadows working, getting widescreen resolutions to work and higher quality textures, check out the video below. You shouldn't install the widescreen fix if you plan to watch cutscenes, as they'll be played in a 640x480 unscalable video. However, you can install the fix, then change the resolution (which is also shown in the video below, at the end) and then don't ever change the resolution again. (or you'll have to install the widescreen fix again)
