Authentic narration reported by Imam Ahmad in his Musnad (Hadith 18406), where Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described the five phases of leadership that the Ummah will go through. Here's the full text and translation:

Arabic Text:
عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنِ الْيَمَانِ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ:
"تَكُونُ النُّبُوَّةُ فِيكُمْ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا اللَّهُ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةً عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ النُّبُوَّةِ، فَتَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا اللَّهُ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ مُلْكًا عَاضًّا، فَيَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا اللَّهُ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ مُلْكًا جَبْرِيَّةً، فَتَكُونُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ أَنْ تَكُونَ، ثُمَّ يَرْفَعُهَا اللَّهُ إِذَا شَاءَ أَنْ يَرْفَعَهَا، ثُمَّ تَكُونُ خِلَافَةً عَلَى مِنْهَاجِ نُبُوَّةٍ" ثُمَّ سَكَتَ.

English Translation:
Hudhayfah ibn al-Yaman reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Prophethood will remain among you for as long as Allah wills. Then Allah will take it away. Then there will be a Caliphate on the Prophetic methodology, and it will remain for as long as Allah wills. Then He will lift it. Then there will be a biting (hereditary) monarchy, and it will remain as long as Allah wills. Then He will lift it. Then there will be a tyrannical rule, and it will remain as long as Allah wills. Then He will lift it. Then there will be a Caliphate upon the Prophetic methodology.” Then he ﷺ was silent.

Arabic Text (Sahih Muslim – Hadith 2889a):
عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ:
"إِنَّ اللَّهَ زَوَى لِيَ الأَرْضَ، فَرَأَيْتُ مَشَارِقَهَا وَمَغَارِبَهَا، وَإِنَّ أُمَّتِي سَيَبْلُغُ مُلْكُهَا مَا زُوِيَ لِي مِنْهَا..."

English Translation (Sahih Muslim – 2889a):
Thawban reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
“Indeed, Allah folded the earth for me, so I saw its east and its west. And the dominion of my Ummah will reach as far as what was folded for me of it...”

This hadith is a prophecy that the Muslim Ummah will expand to cover vast parts of the earth, particularly from the east to the west — which historically came true during the caliphates and is understood by many scholars as a sign of Islam’s universal message and future.

A variant of the one narrated by Tamīm ad-Dārī (رضي الله عنه), and it's found in Musnad Aḥmad and Sunan al-Bayhaqī, often quoted with slight variations in wording.

لَا يَبْقَى عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْأَرْضِ بَيْتُ مَدَرٍ وَلَا وَبَرٍ إِلَّا أَدْخَلَهُ اللَّهُ كَلِمَةَ الْإِسْلَامِ

"There will not remain a single house upon the surface of the earth— whether made of mud bricks or of hair and hide— except that Allah will cause the word of Islam to enter it."
