Mixing on headphones is wrong. But do it

If you are a beginner looking to buy some headphones for mixing, it can be complicated to navigate all of the conflicting information and advice you get online. But before you get a pair of headphones to mix on, you should first understand why a pro mixing engineer uses proper studio monitors inside a proper acoustically treated control room and how this impacts his job. And then, why headphones (at least in my humble opinion - I'm just a random internet guy, I have no Grammys) fall short in providing proper monitoring for mixing and mastering purposes.

That's why I decided to make this three part video series. In this first video, we talk about why you shouldn't generally mix on headphones, and afterwards about when it's actually ok to do it.

In the following second part we will be talking about tips and tricks to close the gap between mixing in your dorm room with headphones / mixing in a proper studio, and in the third one we will be looking at how to choose a proper set of headphones for mixing.
