Some poetry analytical words:

Anaphora – Repetition of a word or phrase at the start of lines.

Oxymoron – Two opposite ideas placed together (e.g. "deafening silence").

Ambiguity – Language with multiple meanings or interpretations.

Symbolism – When something represents a deeper idea.

Sibilance – Repetition of soft ‘s’ or ‘sh’ sounds.

Enjambment – A sentence runs over the end of a line or stanza.

Caesura – A pause in the middle of a line (often marked by punctuation).

Volta – A shift in tone, argument, or perspective.

Semantic field – A group of words related by theme or topic.

Imagery – Descriptive language appealing to the senses.

Tone – The poet’s attitude or emotion in the poem.

Structure – How the poem is organised (stanzas, line length, etc.).

Rhyme scheme – The pattern of end rhymes in a poem.

Rhythm – The beat or flow of the poem, often affected by syllables.

Juxtaposition – Placing contrasting ideas close together for effect.
