🇯🇵 I Visited A Hidden Shrine in Rural Japan for An Anime 📖 Hotarubi no Mori e 🌳 Forest of Fireflies

Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine is a hidden forest shrine at the foot of Mount Aso in Kumamoto of Kyushu, Japan. It is famous for being the setting of a popular anime and manga comic 'Hotarubi no Mori e / Into the Forest of Fireflies Light'.

I visited it when I had a solo trip to Kyushu. The shrine is located in rural Japan which is most visited by car, however, I managed to find a route to visit by public transport.

Here's my itinerary and tips:💡

The shrine is located in Takamori Town, Kumamoto. The easiest way is to depart directly from Kumamoto. From platform 7 at Kumamoto Station, take the "Takamori" bus to Takamori. 🚌 Keep in mind that there is only one bus per day, departing at 11:58 and arriving around 13:50, so don't miss it! ⚠️

Since public transportation is minimal, it's best to stay overnight in Takamori if you're going alone without a car; otherwise, you won't be able to return. Takamori is a village at the foot of Mt. Aso, so all accommodations are some distance from the station. Once you book your stay, make sure to reserve a shuttle service, as the hotel staff will pick you up. 🚗

After checking in at the hotel, you can head to the shrine. Luckily, there is a local bus stop in front of the hotel I stayed at, so I could go directly to Kamishikimi Kumanoimasu Shrine from the hotel by bus.

首先神社位于熊本市高森町 最方便的是直接从熊本出发 在熊本駅前7号巴士站台坐「たかもり号」去高森🚌 注意每天只有一趟巴士11:58出发13:50左右到 千万别错过了⚠️
因为公共交通特别不方便 一个人没有车去高森最好住一晚 不然回不来 高森是阿苏脚下的一个村子 离所有的住宿都有一段距离 所以预订了住宿后一定要预约送迎服务 酒店的工作人员会来接你🚗

去了酒店办理好入住就可以去神社了 没想到自己的住的酒店就是一个巴士站点 可以直接去上色見熊野座神社 坐15:18或者16:48的车五分钟就到 然后18:29坐回程的车回来🚌
