Spurred on by political sparring, hate-crimes, and generally unkind behavior, one singer-songwriter decided to ask how we can make each other smile instead. And, of course, he did this in a song.
Stan Stewart's "Squid (Look All Around)" does that will a happy beat, an infectious lyric and a stream of smiling faces. He originally wrote this song in 2000 in response to personal relationships, but let it go by the wayside. The headlines and general rise in hate and rudeness in more recent years led him to revise and record the song. In 2016, he created a lyric video with global images of smiling faces to accompany the song.
