What's up everybody It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna be checking out these ratchet straps from ShockStraps. Now, they're a little different than your normal ratchet straps just because they have the shock absorber built in. It's just been great for, you know, hauling those loads that have suspension, move independently or just the load that might shift a little bit. Anytime you hit a bump with regular ratchet straps, that movement up and down, it's gonna slowly loosen the straps over time. So you're gonna have to stop frequently on those long trips to make sure it's still nice and tied down.
This one, it's gonna help out with that shock absorber, so as it moves, it's just gonna pull up on this. And so it all goes here instead of loosening your straps. Now, you'll still have to check them when you're going down the road, but you won't have to do it as frequently. Let's check them out. Looking right at the shock absorber, it's gonna be made out of urethane.
This can be heavy duty, you gonna see how I'm gonna pull on it and try and mess with it. It's not just a rubber band or anything like that. Nah! I can't get it to move. So you know that it's gonna last for a long time. It's built for that shock absorption.
So I can definitely trust that it's gonna last and do its job. They do have a safety precaution, though. If there was any issues, maybe you tighten it down too much. They recommend expanding the urethane only half or up to two inches. So that means while you're ratcheting down, it's gonna pull it tighter, don't go over two inches.
If you we're to go over two inches and hit a bump or something, there was an issue and it broke, then that's why this is here too. This is gonna be your backup, so it's not gonna come out fully disconnected. It'll still have the strap to hold it down. The way the straps connect are gonna be a double J hook, so this is pretty heavy duty. Even a nice reach on this hook, you can see how much hook there is here. Even though it's connected to D-rings, sometimes they don't give you much and when it stop there, which is fine, it would work, but it's just really close to the D-ring. And this one, you have plenty of extra so that you don't have to worry about any issues with this attached to anything. Plus if you need to reach a little bit longer, there we're the other hooks. This one's gonna have it covered. Another thing is this soft strap attaching point. Now, where you can use this for is maybe you don't have an attachment point, so you're gonna hook the strap to itself here, in a loop, the double J hooks can go here and attach. Or another scenario would be maybe you have something with an axle and you don't wanna damage while you're hauling. So you could wrap this around there, attached to this, then this soft straps will actually will making contact with the object you're hauling. So you don't have to worry about scratching it up or anything. Speaking of the strap, it's gonna be a polyester webbing. It's gonna to be UV resistant and element resistance. So you don't have to worry about the water, if it rains or anything, damaging it or causing any issues. It is pretty heavy duty. You can see the stitching in there. If there was like a rip, it wouldn't just rip right through it, but I think it's gonna hold up for a long time. You have the extra stitching here, just on these high stress points, just the further backup that it's gonna last. Speaking of construction, these straps are gonna have a safe working load limit of 3,333 pounds, that's gonna be per strap. We recommend using at least two straps for any loads. So you can combine that safe working load limit, and then you get a little bit more out of them that way, but they're all gonna have a break strength of 10,000 pounds. So just keep that in mind when you're strapping down your load. Now, you can get the shock straps in a couple different sizes. They come in 9 feet long. This one's gonna be 18 feet, what we're using today. And you can also get 27 feet. So just keep that in mind on what kind of trailer you have and what you're gonna tie down. But they're all gonna have straps with a width of 2 inches, so that's gonna be the same in all of them. Another option is each one of these comes in a quantity of two
