OCE's Elevator Pitch Competition invited Ontario youth aged 18-29 to pitch their idea-stage business in a two-minute video.

Ten finalists were chosen to attend the Discovery conference and trade show, where they received training to improve their pitching technique and the opportunity to present their business ideas to a panel of expert judges.

After careful deliberation, PetroPredict was announced as the winner of the 2014 Elevator Pitch Competition. Using historic production and geological data collected from seismic charts, well logs and other sources, PetroPredict uses machine learning and data mining techniques to predict casing integrity issues in conventional oil wells and quantify the risk of their occurrences.

The company was awarded $5,000 in cash to help validate their business concept.
