2019 DAPSquad Career Trek

DAPSquad is a near-peer support network that encourages first-year students to share career advice as they build rewarding careers. 14 first-year students from 14 different Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) visited Silicon Valley from March 11 to March 15, 2019.

HBCU students typically wait until after they graduate to start the job search and that puts them at a disadvantage relative to their competition. The goal of this trip was to encourage HBCU students, typically underrepresented and/or under-resourced, to begin building their career as early as possible.

During the trek, they visited companies like Handshake, IBM, Google, OutCast, Facebook, Lyft and Tesla over the course of the week.
