(28 Aug 2019) Britain's Minister for Exiting the European Union on Wednesday reaffirmed the United Kingdom's commitment to leaving the European Union with a deal.
Speaking from Paris Stephen Barclay said that the UK government was prepared in the case of a no deal Brexit but that it was "absolutely clear" that businesses across Europe wanted an end to the uncertainty.
He added that the UK government wanted a deal that honoured the Good Friday agreement and one that did not include a backstop between EU member Ireland and Britain's Northern Ireland.
"With goodwill on all sides it is what we can deliver," he said.
Earlier on Wednesday UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced plans to suspend Parliament until October 14, squeezing the time for the opposition to thwart a no-deal Brexit.
Britain was due to leave the EU on October 31.
