Inside Karachi's Orangi Town, the world's former biggest slum 🇵🇰

🇵🇰 Welcome to Orangi Town! Prior to 2018, this place was classified as the world's biggest slum, before finally being moved into the classification of a municipality by the United Nations. Parts of Orangi Town are still classified as slums, and you can see very clearly the developing side of this place in the video.

The history of this area and its development is particularly interesting. The population of the area increased rapidly in 1971, when thousands of refugees fled the newly-found state of Bangladesh, to escape war and persecution. As such, when you talk to the older generation of the town, they often have stories of their families coming from from Bangladesh or India, migrating thousands of kilometers, and starting a new life in a place.
