So backstory: Turns out the sump pump randomly turned off causing water to flood the adjacent room we never go into. Apparently that’s a fun thing that can happen her in the midwest or in any basement. I had a sensor next to the water heater about 3 ft slightly up from the pump but it wasn’t until the water ran out of room going one way that it started flowing back towards the sensor finally alerting us of an issue.
