Blueprint for Better Business aims to unite corporate purpose and personal values to serve society. We encourage businesses to define and operate to a purpose that serves society and respects the dignity of people, and to nourish a culture through which behaviours needed to deliver that purpose can flourish. To do this we have developed Five Principles of a Purpose Driven Business and a Framework to Guide Decision Making.

Louise James of Accenture, talks about the benefits to both business and wider society of business partnering with NGOs "Businesses really value the insights and expertise that civil society can bring ” she said "..partnering with NGOs…can sometimes open up a bit of Pandora’s box, but they recognise it’s better to know what is in there rather than ignoring it completely”
Partnerships are not easy and can be frustrating. Her recommendations to help make partnering work were:
•Trust - investing the time to build this trust - a friend that is only critical will lose that trust;
•Transparency - being clear on expectations and objectives on both sides; and
•Tenacity - working through challenges and being honest when challenges exist.


We held a conference in October 2014 on Putting Purpose into Practise keynote speakers including President of the CBI Sir Mike Rake and academic and commentator John Kay took to the stage to discuss Why Purpose Matters and the Future of Purpose Driven Business. We also had speakers from business and the investment community discuss Measuring Purpose and The Challenges of Putting Purpose into Practice. Paul Polman spoke to Professor Rebecca Henderson about the benefits to business of joining the purpose journey. John Kay concluded with; "profit is no more the purpose of business than breathing is the purpose of life".
