Nicola Roberts has shared a look behind the curtain at her 40th birthday party where she celebrated the milestone with pals including her Girls Aloud bandmates.

The singer, 40, shared photos with Cheryl and Kimberley Walsh at a private dinner, where she was joined by her 'closest family and friends'.

Nicola revealed it was also around the time she discovered she was expecting her first child with fiancé Mitch Hahn, which she announced on Christmas Day.

The mother to be said that after being affected by nausea in her early pregnancy she had not got round to compiling a post about her birthday.

But taking the time to share photos of the occasion, Nicola posted snaps of the group as she gushed it is her 'favourite thing to have her loved ones in the same room'.

Nicola was wearing a red satin Victoria Beckham dress, which was the same garment worn by Holly Ramsay's bridesmaids at her wedding over the weekend.
