According to narcissism & narcissistic personality disorder (NPD) expert Dr. Ramani, many leadership roles attract narcissists. So narcissism is common in leaders.

Narcissistic leaders are dangerous because they fully exploit their toxic traits as a narcissist, yet have an exceptional ability to attract employees or “followers.” At the same time, their narcissistic abuse can take a massive toll on the mental health of those unknowing victims.

Additionally, narcissistic leaders are more common than most people realize. According to Dr. Ramani, narcissism is so widespread that it should be considered “the topic of our time.” Narcissistic behaviors include gaslighting, narcissistic abuse, arrogance, and more.
