Saint Paul's Cathedral, also known as the Vigan Cathedral was founded in 1614 by Augustinian Recollect Fathers. It became a Cathedral in 1758 when the See of Nueva Segovia was transfered from Lal-lo in the Province of Cagayan to it's present location

The Cathedral was occupied by the revolutionaries under Col. Juan Villamor in 1896 and later on under the forces Lt Col James Parker in 1899.
