Well, it's our last day at Normans Bay Campsite, before we move on to pastures new. It's Sunday morning and our intention is to go to the local Car Boot Sale at Pevensey. On arrival, we realized there was no one there! It looks like the Car Boot was cancelled but they forgot to tell us!
So we stopped off at Eastbourne and had a quick look at the fantastic Eastbourne Pier, where Dave give us the low down on the piers' function in World War 2.
Next we are off to the spectacular Pevensey Castle in the pretty little village of Pevensey. Pevensey.
Pevensey Castle, located on England’s southern coast, is a charming pile of ancient rocks that once housed Romans, Normans, and at least one confused pigeon who thought it was Buckingham Palace. Originally a Roman fort, it later became a medieval stronghold — mostly for people who enjoyed damp walls, long sieges, and questionable hygiene.
William the Conqueror landed nearby in 1066 and said, “That’ll do,” before stomping through the gate with all the subtlety of a medieval bachelorette party. Over the centuries, the castle survived invasions, renovations, and several angry tourists wondering where the gift shop is.
Today, it’s mostly ruins. You’ll find crumbling towers, dramatic views, and at least one local pretending to be a ghost. It’s the perfect spot for pretending you're in Game of Thrones, tripping over uneven stones, or wondering why medieval people never invented cushions.
In this video you'll see us at Normans Bay Camping and Caravanning Club Site, Eastbourne Pier and Pevensey Castle.

After many years of camping and caravanning we've decided to set out in our campervan and explore more of what the British Isles has to offer - and we've brought our dog along too!
Tune in for our adventures across Wales, Scotland, Ireland, and wherever else the road takes us.
Rather than buy a ready-made motorhome, we decided to go about things the hard way by converting our Citroen Relay into a campervan. When we're not on the road, we'll also show you how we build, maintain, and repair our holiday home on wheels!
Thank you for watching, we really do appreciate every single view we get. If you want to help us out just give us a like, comment, or subscribe and you'll be making the algorithm work it's magic. Cheers!
