King Reef Queensland

WOW. We were so lucky to be able to WALK out to the exposed King Reef today and explore this fascinating reef. As you can see below there is not to many days per year where you get this awesome opportunity!
King Reef is the largest fringing reef on the Great barrier Reef. It is the closest Great Barrier Reef to mainland Australia which is accessible on very low tides on foot from the shores of Kurrimine beach. We walked out with the out going tide in knee to thigh deep water for about 800 metres.it took us about 30. mins to reach the reef and it was certainly worth it. We saw starfish as big as dinner plates, seacucumbers ,giant clams , corals , rays and so much more.
The only Dates where tides are low enough to walk to the reef for 2022 are
June 13th 14th 15th
July 12th 13th 14th 15th
Aug 10th 11th 12th
Sept8th 9th 10th
