In episode 2, we saw the crew go into the hole and Momo and Okuran acting hella weird and wanting to hurt themselves, but Jiji wasn't affected at all.

The worm’s power only affects humans and yokai ability users, and then Jiji was protected because of the Evil Eye spirit jumping in and matching the worm’s waves it created a clash that neutralized the mind control, but we’ve had a hint at his resistance from the first season, where Seiko keeps saying, Jiji is a genius.

This also explains why his parents went mad and sacrificed themselves for the Worm, but Jiji was simply resistant to the influence, partly due to his own spiritual powers, but also Evil Eye protecting him to have his body all to himself.
