Come with us to the biggest medieval festival in all of Europe.
The Kaltenberger Ritterturnier.

This spectacle is happening every year on the last 3 weekends of July.
This year they went straight to the first play on Saturday.
Dozens of medieval groups, artists and musicians from all over Europe are coming to this festival and some of them will stay for the whole 3 weeks or even longer in Kaltenberg.
And they are really living there like humans did in medieval times back in the day.
It was very crowded but at least not hot. Which was nice. Simon and Johanna straightly went for some food, and they had a vegetarian sandwich called Kasnocken, it was some kind of cheese patty with salad and kraut.
They have a lot of vegetarian food options such as Schupfnudeln which is some kind of potato dumpling with Sauerkraut, and Käsespätzle, all around 6 Euros per portion. And many options more. Of course you can find a lot of meat dishes too if you like.
And as you can see in our video different groups have huge tents and fireplaces, beautifully decorated where they will live for the next few weeks.
You can also find stalls where people sell their handmade goods and crafts. Nearly everybody is in a good mood and its such a nice community.
Then at 6 pm there is the big parade where a lot of groups, musicians and artists walk along the terrain of the Castle and play music and making a lot of funny role play stuff too. Which is awesome and hilarious.
The costumes are beyond amazing and you can see and feel the love those people put into it.
Here you can see a blacksmith who is showing his talent in his amazing workshop. You also can buy knives and swords in this location.
There is any kind of nearly forgotten crafts shown buy the actors, here you can see two women spinning wool.
You can also find tents were you can buy ceramics, leather notebooks and incense for example.
Professional artist such as traveling entertainers, high rope artists or fire breathers, showing their talent on the stage to the audience.
And then the competition started, it is not allowed to film inside so we just can show you some bits and bobs from the pre show program.
But the artists who are working with the horses were amazing and the concept of the show was so too.
We come to see the competition every year, sometimes more then once when we can make it. The entrance for 2 adults was 70 Euros (76 USD) and Sammy is 4 and had to pay 30 Euros (32 USD)
The iced cold beverages in the clay jug are so refreshing. Of course you can find beer and honey wine there too if you want alcoholic drinks.
And in the Zuckerbekerey you could find roasted almonds, cashews, macadamias and what not, which had a very Christmassy vibe to it. Very traditional German though.
And last but not least Simon tried some potato dumplings and after that we went home, because the kids were tired and sadly we could not make it to see Corvus Corax in concert, maybe another time soon.
