This is the first 2022 footage from the CSX Abbeville Sub and the new year started with a bang: X821-01 had an EMD/GE pair of the Tier 4 units of these manufacturers, ET44AH and ST70AH, respectively, as CSX designates them. One car of this train was particularly remarkable. It was the Pullman car "Villa Real", built in 1911 and removed from service in 1957. Fully restored, it is now in the possession of the Illinois Railway Museum. It's journey on X582 was part of the transfer to the museum. Later in the evening on that day, empty coal train E322-28 showed up in Colbert, GA with an ET44 leading. On January 22nd, Q581-20, caught in Hull, GA and Comer, GA sported a 1+2 power configuration, i.e., one head unit and two at the tail. This is a rare lashup for this line. Just before sunset, we watch Q580-22 with a BNSF ES44C4 leader cross the cam's viewfinder. Foreign power is sparse nowadays, as fewer trains run and the line is equipped with the CSX version of positive train control (PTC). Enjoy!
