Budapest, the capital of Hungary is located on both sides of the Danube river. The city has stunning architecture and monuments to visit. The city is definitely worth a citytrip, the highlights are the Széchenyi thermal baths, Fisherman's Bastion & the Hungarian Parliament.

I spend 3 days in the city and as a bonus spend one day at Lake Balaton.
Lake Balaton is the biggest lake in Europe, it is only a 2 hour train ride away from the city center so easily accessible, you can visit several towns in one day.
