A history of Trafalgar Square

The story of Charing Cross and Trafalgar Square illustrated in a series of historical maps between the 1500s and modern day. We visit the Royal Mews - more birds of prey than horses; see two Eleanor Crosses; drop by an ancient priory and watch as a new public space is built.

And surrounding the history is my walk between Piccadilly Circus station and Charing Cross station via the Haymarket and Trafalgar Square itself.

It's an early morning walk - explaining the relative lack of people around - and it’s number 60 of my continuing series of London Underground surface walks between stations.
