"I am not averse to politics, but that does not mean that I am going to join politics," Rahul Gandhi had said before he joined politics in 2004. He has resigned twice—once in 2019 after Congress’ massive defeat in the general elections and earlier in 2014—but both times, the party refused to let him go. Instead of using these moments to bring in fresh, stronger leadership, Congress clung to the Gandhi surname, unwilling to face the reality of its decline.
