The Big Apple was a popular dance craze in ballrooms that combined the popular dances steps of the time. It began in New York City (THE Big Apple) in 1937 during the Big Band era, and it quickly spread across the United States and beyond. It's an energizing lifter of spirits and a cure for the blues. It can be done many different ways with dancers jumping in the middle, girls switching partners, and lots of joking around. Everybody can do it!
