Silk fusion is an amazing and lustrous “felt” or “paper” that is incredibly easy to create. It is the perfect beginning for fusible appliqué designs, original art quilts or mixed media creations.

Silk fusion can be your canvas for any surface design technique you love—hand or machine stitching, stamping, printing, inking, or any number of surface design techniques.

Basic Steps for 3-Layer Silk Fusion:
PART 1 SILK FUSION HOW TO video
1. Make silk ‘sandwich’
a. Screen
b. East-West layer (natural or hand-painted tussah roving)
c. North-South layer (natural tussah roving)
d. East-West layer (natural or hand-painted tussah roving)
e. Optional—‘fun’ stuff
f. Screen

PART 2 SILK FUSION HOW TO video
2. Wet with water & touch of soap TIME is your friend
3. Apply JoSonja Textile Medium
4. Lift off top screen (optional—can set it back on top)

PART 3 SILK FUSION HOW TO video
5. Dry completely
6. Remove screen
7. Heat set
8. CREATE!!
