The story of Prophet Lut is a powerful narrative of divine justice, focusing on a prophet's mission to guide his people away from corruption and sin. Sent by Allah to the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, Prophet Lut found his people steeped in wickedness, engaging in robbery, corruption, and sexual immorality, particularly homosexuality. Despite his sincere and tireless efforts to steer them back to the worship of one God and a righteous path, his warnings were met with mockery and defiance.

As the people continued in their disobedience, two angels, disguised as handsome men, visited Lut, but the men of the city, driven by their sinful desires, sought to harm them. Lut, distressed by their wickedness, prayed to Allah for help. In response, the angels revealed their true identities and informed Lut that divine punishment was imminent.

Lut and the few righteous followers were instructed to leave the city before dawn, with a stern warning not to look back. As they fled, Allah unleashed His wrath upon the cities. The ground trembled and overturned the cities, and a rain of stones fell from the sky, annihilating everything. Even Lut’s wife, who had sided with the sinful people, disobeyed the command and looked back, sealing her fate with the rest of the doomed.

The destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of rejecting divine guidance and persisting in immoral behavior. It is a story of both mercy—shown to those who repent—and the certainty of punishment for those who refuse to turn away from sin.
