Few years back, Shankar revealed at one of the events organized for ‘Vettaikkaaran’ that Vijay was the second choice for his political thriller Mudhalvan. “Rajinikanth was my first choice for the film. But not many would know that Vijay was the second choice. It did not materialize due to unforeseen circumstances,” said Shankar who later directed Vijay in Nanban, the official remake of the Hindi film ‘3 Idiots’. Mudhalvan proved to be a milestone in Tamil cinema for the novel subject the film discussed and revived the career of Arjun.
