Aircraft Wreck - Japanese Zero (Masterpiece Models 1/35)

This resin kit of a wrecked Japanese Zero from Masterpiece Models is unusual in that it is in 1/35 scale. The resin molding is a little rough but there are some nice details, plus photoetch parts for the elevators, ailerons, and the cockpit canopy. In this video I build, paint, and heavily weather the kit, ready to place it in a jungle crash diorama in a future video. Much of the weathering is based around multi-layer hairspray chipping with layers of green camouflage paint, red primer, and then the bare alumnium beneath. The look I went for in the weathering process was one of several decades worth of exposure to the elements, as if the aircraft has been sitting, lost in the jungle, for all those years.
