About this video: There are a ton of reasons you may want to learn how to find the Minecraft folder. This holds all of your Minecraft files, folders, and truthfully, everything associated with Minecraft. Luckily, there are a few ways to open the Minecraft folder, and we are going to cover them all in this video.
First things first, we are going to show you find the Minecraft files using the Minecraft Launcher. This is the easiest way to access your .minecraft folder. Start off by opening the Minecraft Launcher.
From there, click on “Installations” at the top of Minecraft. This will show all of your Minecraft versions and installations. Locate the version/installation you want to find the Minecraft folder for, and hover over it. You will see a folder icon appear. Click this folder icon, and your .minecraft folder will open.
In your Minecraft folder, you will see saves, resource packs, mods, shaderpacks, and anything else associated with Minecraft. You can add these files to Minecraft and then be able to use them in-game by adding things to the correct folder within the .minecraft folder.
Now, what if you can’t access the Minecraft Launcher? Well, that doesn’t mean you can’t find the .minecraft folder. In this case, you will need to open the start menu and search for the “Run” app. Open it, and type “%appdata%” into the text box and press enter on your keyboard.
The Roaming folder will open. In this folder, you should have a .minecraft folder. If not, click “View” at the top of File Explorer and check “Hidden Items”. The .minecraft folder should then appear.
From there, open the Minecraft folder on Windows, and you are good to go! You can now manage your Minecraft files just like you could from the Minecraft Launcher when accessing the .minecraft folder.
With that, you now know how to find the Minecraft folder on Windows. If you have any questions about how to open your Minecraft folder, let us know in the comments. We will try our best to help you out.
