Figure Note:
Stop-Motion Transformation of DreamStar Toys DST01-001 Slingshoot. I like the style of these guys. The jet is based on the venerable Harrier Jump Jet. Pretty ambitious of these guys to number things the way they have. Are you saying there will be up to 99 combiners produced and some of them could have up to 999 components? You would think “DST1-1” would have sufficed.

I know it seemed like extra steps to have the combiner hand out for all modes at the midpoint like that, but you need to be able to reach those plates directly in order to buckle the halves together properly for the jet and arm modes. Also, I am well aware that there are little fold-out posts on his hips that allow the forearms to tab in for jet mode, but they are a pain in the ass and not at all necessary, so I don’t bother with them and neither should you. It definitely helps to open up the panels that hide the face when going to arm mode so you can safely pry out the combiner peg. There is a clear plastic part that is specifically for that - the pointy end of it helps get the peg started, and the hooked end helps you grab the end of the peg and continue extracting it. Because it is a big heavy combiner, the peg ratchet is VERY firm. Putting it back away is comparatively simpler. If you don’t figure out how to zigzag that plate on the right foot ALL the way in, you’re going to have a bad time getting the combiner fist to stow properly in jet mode.

Viewing Note:
If you want to follow along, I recommend skipping to the speed run and using your , and . keyboard keys to advance by single frames. Every step of the transformation is documented in the frames of the video, in what I consider to be the best sequence. With minimal rubbing and minimal parts-parking.

Music: The music is by Ethan Meixsell - www.ethanmeixsell.com
