Session 1 – Pre-Production & Camera Skills

This session will focus on the importance of pre-production to make the most of your videos. This involves planning the environment, the script, the structure of your videos and other preparation that will make the filming process significantly easier and more effective.

We will also introduce and explore camera skills, helping you to create great video clips using your phone camera or webcam. As well as tips and tricks on framing, lighting, stabilisation and more, we’ll also look at what you can use from around the home to improve your shots.

Gavin Hugh is the founder of the video-production business, MidgieBite Media, as well as the Creative Film Fife Network, a Fife-based film networking group.Gavin has worked in television for STV and in politics at the Scottish Parliament. A proud Fifer, Gavin lives in Kirkcaldy and enjoys creative filmmaking and writing. He is a graduate from the University of Stirling and is keenly interested in current affairs, science, and history.
