And where were the Danish fans resting and walking before the match at the Baku Olympic Stadium. Danish fans mostly spent their time in the former Molokan, now Khagani Garden of Baku.
Molokan Garden - Mariinsky Square - Ashum Aliyev Garden - 9th January Garden - Khagani Garden Located at the intersection of Korganov, Khagani, Gogol and U. Hajibeyov Streets, the garden was called Molokan Garden for a reason.
In 1850s on this place, then far outside the city, there was Molokan slobodka, where exclusively Molokans lived, who moved to Baku from Molokan villages of Baku province. At that time Molokans were mainly engaged in carriage trade in Baku.
With the development and growth of the city, this place was almost in its center. In connection with the construction of the central quarters, the Molokan sloboda with its carriage yards and stables was demolished to the ground, and the Molokans were evicted from this place, providing them with another site for a new Molokan (Izvozvozchichya) sloboda - not far from that place in Soviet times there was a factory of L. Schmidt.
In the early 70s of the 19th century, a garden of about 1 hectare was built on this place, which was called Molokansky in memory of the former settlement. Although it had an official name: Mariinsky square. The simplest composition in the center consisted of a pool with a fountain - an obligatory accessory of all Baku gardens. This fountain in the center was arranged by a Molokan Kascheev, who lived on the corner of Mariinskaya (later Korganov Street - R. Rza) and Molokanskaya (Khagani Street) streets.
Over time around the Molokan garden were erected beautiful buildings: the houses of oil industrialist Benkendorf, Molokan brothers. Kashcheevs, a member of the Council of the Congress of oil producers Kyanjunsky, the house of the Greek consul, one of the founders and co-owner of the "Baku Dock" Partnership Kussis, the house of Rudinsky, which once housed the office of the Council of the Congress of oil producers, the house of Sheremetyev, which was the consulate of France, the theater "Mikado" (later the Russian Drama Theater named after Samed Vurgun) and others.
After establishment of Soviet power Molokan garden was renamed to Ashum Aliyev's garden, and then it was renamed to the garden named after January 9. Now it bears the name of Khagani.
The garden was reconstructed twice in the post-war period. A curvilinear swimming pool with a sculptural group "Three Graces" became the basis of the architectural and landscape composition. Large blocks of natural stone serve as pedestals for the sculptures.
