How to Install or update JAWS for Windows

This video explains the ins and outs of installing JAWS from scratch, and updating JAWS to new versions from old ones. For this demonstration, we upgraded from JAWS 2021 to JAWS 2022. The music in this video was taken from an old JAWS CD ROM from JAWS 17, and the closing theme was the Windows Media Center welcome chime from Windows Vista.
If for any reason JAWS does not automatically prompt you to install updates, you can initiate the process manually by going to the JAWS Help Menu and selecting the "Check for Updates" option.
Please note that upgrading to a new JAWS version does not remove the old one. Freedom Scientific has designed it this way on purpose to prevent you from gaining access to your work if something in the new version is malfunctioning. Once you are sure that the new version is working properly for you, you can remove the old one by going to Programs and Features. When removing old JAWS versions, it is best to leave the checkboxes for shared components and user configurations unchecked to prevent damage to other Freedom Scientific products on your machine. You should only check these if you plan to remove all Freedom Scientific software from your computer.
