I disassemble my starter, cleaned and lubed it. so far it is working good again..
For an update, the issue returned about 1 year later. this time it was a 2 hour long hard pull. I think the starter is just getting very hot during these conditions from the cat converter. I am going to install a heat shield on the starter and see how that goes. it works perfect still right after it cools off. so maybe that will fix it. will see. I am just not sure a new starter will fix this since there is a lot of talk of this issue.
