Studying in a large city provides students the opportunity to see first-hand the structures they learn about in the classroom. In particular, students in Chicago are able to engage in the realities of a variety of aspects within the court system, including criminal court and immigration court. In this presentation, we will discuss the opportunities and challenges of providing students a view of the court system. In addition, we will consider the ethical dilemmas of such projects, not least of these the ethics of having students view the very personal and difficult experiences of others for educational purposes.
