Technical details of tuning keyboard acoustics:
In general, anything that makes the keyboard internals flexible or softer, will attenuate higher frequency sounds, giving a deeper sound signature. So for a deeper tone out of the Nos75, you should use more flexible plates like PC or POM and a softer gasket mounting as opposed to top or bottom mounting. Softer mounting also makes for a slightly better typing experience since the keyboard may feel bouncier to type on. Personally, I prefer PC over POM plate. The reason is that although POM gives a deeper sound signature, its softness often mutes keystroke too much. In my experience, PC tends to preserve tonality and volume better.

On the flip side, anything that stiffens the keyboard assembly will make for a higher pitched sound signature. So that means using aluminum or CF plates and going with a top or bottom mount where the assembly is screwed into the case will give more high pitched acoustics.

Foams wise, use of plate foam generally makes the keyboard sound higher pitched. Because again, a plate foam causes the entire assembly to stiffen due to its density. Plate foam also helps to cut out low frequencies and any weird artefacts due to poor machining tolerances. If a foamy sound signature is not desired, plate foam should be used sparingly and when needed. Case foam works differently. Having more layers of case foam simply reduces hollowness and cuts out lower end frequency. Bear in mind that the more foam is deployed in a keyboard, a characteristic “foamy” or “marbly” sound profile will be added, and this is amplified further using PE foam. For these reasons, I use foam solely to cut out any unwanted acoustic artefacts and I try to keep usage of foam to a minimum. I don’t dislike foam, but as the trendy thing to do now, I just think it makes every keyboard sound similar.
