##### For the Wings:
2 cans of banana blossoms (drained and rinsed)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup cornstarch
1 cup plant-based milk (such as almond or soy)
1-2 tsp chicken seasoning (make sure it’s vegan-friendly)
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for extra spice)
Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)
##### For Buffalo Sauce:
1/2 cup vegan butter
1/2 cup hot sauce (like Frank’s RedHot)
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1/2 tsp garlic powder
##### For Lemon Pepper Sauce:
1/4 cup vegan butter
1 tbsp lemon zest
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp salt
#### Instructions:
1. **Prepare the Banana Blossoms**:
Drain and rinse the banana blossoms, then gently pat them dry with a paper towel.
2. **Set Up Your Breading Station**:
In one bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, chicken seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
In another bowl, pour the plant-based milk.
3. **Bread the Banana Blossoms**:
Dip each banana blossom piece first in the flour and cornstarch mixture, then in the plant-based milk, and then back in the flour and cornstarch mixture. Make sure they are fully coated.
4. **Fry the Banana Blossoms**:
Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the breaded banana blossoms in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.
5. **Prepare the Sauces**:
**For Buffalo Sauce**:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the vegan butter.
Stir in the hot sauce, apple cider vinegar, and garlic powder until well combined.
**For Lemon Pepper Sauce**:
In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the vegan butter.
Stir in the lemon zest, lemon juice, black pepper, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
6. **Coat the Wings**:
Toss half of the fried banana blossoms in the buffalo sauce until evenly coated.
Toss the other half in the lemon pepper sauce until evenly coated.
7. **Serve**:
Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces, like vegan ranch or blue cheese, and enjoy!
